Abstract: In recent times, changes in rainfall pattern and amount have become a new normal all over the world. Since rainfall is the major component of the hydrologic cycle, changes in rainfall will play an important role in shaping the hydrology of a basin. In this regard, it becomes imperative to analyze temporal changes in rainfall data. In this chapter, one of the latest trend analysis techniques, called innovative triangular trend analysis (ITTA), has been applied to detect trends in monthly precipitation time series of Shiraz synoptic station, Shiraz, Iran. The trend results obtained were compared with those achieved by the conventional Mann-Kendall test. It was indicated that the annual average rainfall is declining, while the magnitude annual maximum rainfall is increasing.
